In Their Own Words
Fourth generation on this ranch in Kinney County, Texas. My great-grandfather ran cattle on land that is now a smuggling corridor, and the family has been finding what the cartels leave behind ever since. Cut fences. Trashed water lines. Groups of thirty moving through at dawn like we wouldn't notice. We notice.
I don't write theory. I write what's on the ground, because I live on the ground. When a politician says the border is secure I can drive you to the hole in the fence and let you do the math yourself. When they say enforcement doesn't work I can show you the two quiet years we had when somebody actually tried it.
You'll get specifics from me. Mile markers and vet bills and the names of the counties doing the work, because the truth lives in details, not in adjectives. I have testified at the capitol twice and both times the folks in suits were very interested right up until the cameras left. So now I write it down where the cameras can't.
Vince Carrow does the policy side of this beat. He reads the executive orders and knows the doctrine cold. I just know what happens when the doctrine meets my pasture, and I'll keep telling that part.
